It is crucial to achieve quality improvement and to create the culture for patient safety through appropriate strategies.

I am honored to serve as the Director of the Quality Management Center of Taichung Veterans General Hospital. First of all, thank you all for your continued support and trust in our center. The Quality Management Center is an important department of our hospital dedicated to improving medical quality and ensuring patient safety. Our mission is to ensure that every patient can receive the highest quality medical services.

The history of the Quality Management Center can be traced back to 1986, when the hospital established a Medical Quality Review Committee, with the vice president of medical services as the chairman, responsible for the hospital's medical quality management activities. Since 2000, our hospital has promoted a medical quality action group, and each unit has independently formed a medical circle to improve the quality and process of patient care, increase patient satisfaction, and build the hospital's image. In 2006, we integrated the medical quality and patient safety committees into the medical quality and patient safety management committee. In 2013, it was officially expanded into a quality management center, and the director of the center was established to lead the specialists and professional committee members.

With the attention and full support of successive deans and vice deans, the Quality Management Center has been actively promoting various quality management and patient safety tasks since its establishment. Long before the Medical Policy Council listed "excellent medical quality and patient safety" as the mission indicator of the medical center, our hospital listed medical and health safety as one of the six major strategies for hospital development and adopted the balanced scorecard model for management and operation. . Under the leadership of Directors Wu Jieliang and Dr. Liu Shian, the center has repeatedly won the SNQ National Biotechnology and Medical Quality Award, and was selected as the Excellent Quality Management Center by the Medical Policy Council. The center will continue to uphold the patient-centered concept, promote disease care and management based on evidence-based medicine, and introduce information and communication technology to improve medical quality and maintain patient safety, create new medical value, and provide patients with a safe medical environment.

In the days to come, we will continue to promote quality improvement plans, including introducing advanced medical technology, improving medical service processes, strengthening risk management and patient safety measures, etc. We firmly believe that through continuous innovation and improvement, we will be able to provide patients with better medical services.
