Services and Characteristics
The Department of Chest Medicine is committed to excellence in both clinical service and research. Our research efforts are driven by the goal of enhancing the quality of care and improving patient outcomes. We focus on four major areas:
- Critical Care and Pulmonary Infectious Disease
- Lung Cancer
- Asthma and Chronic Airway Disease
- Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Critical Care and Pulmonary Infectious Disease
We provide comprehensive diagnosis, care, and treatment for critically ill patients, aiming to become the leading critical care center in central Taiwan. Our team actively conducts research, with numerous publications in prestigious international journals.
Lung Cancer
Dedicated to improving lung cancer outcomes, we organize and participate in multiple clinical trials, with exceptional patient enrollment performance in Taiwan. Our team has developed advanced bronchoscopic ultrasound techniques, including curved and radial probes, offering a less invasive, higher diagnostic yield for lung cancer. These innovations significantly enhance the quality of diagnosis and treatment.
Asthma and Chronic Airway Disease
Beyond clinical care, we emphasize patient education and research. A Health Education Center for patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is established in our outpatient department. We also actively participate in a variety of international clinical trials related to airway diseases.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Founded in 2003, the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center provides treatment for a wide range of conditions, including:
- Acute air embolism
- Carbon monoxide poisoning
- Gas gangrene
- Acute burn injuries
- Radiation osteonecrosis
- Radiation cystitis
- Decompression sickness
