•With frequent international exchanges and climate change in the global society, emerging infectious diseases break through traditional boundaries and spread worldwide. The prevalence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria has also increased globally due to the extensive use of antibiotics. The convergence of emerging infectious diseases and the issue of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has a significant impact on public health. In response, Taichung Veterans General Hospital has established the Infection Molecular Diagnosis Laboratory to safeguard public health from the perspective of precision medicine in infectious diseases.
•The Infection Molecular Diagnosis Laboratory is dedicated to precise diagnosis of infectious diseases. Using molecular biology techniques, the laboratory can rapidly detect and identify various pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Various testing methods are based on the analysis of specific nucleic acid sequences in samples, and these sequences are amplified and detected using techniques such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). This enables us to quickly determine the type of pathogen, conduct bacterial antibiotic resistance gene testing, and achieve accurate diagnosis in the early stages.
•Our goal is to assist clinical physicians in making accurate diagnoses promptly, realizing early treatment, and effectively controlling infectious diseases to safeguard the health of patients. If you have any needs or questions regarding infectious disease diagnosis, please feel free to contact us.
