Kou-Lung Lai is an Attending Physician in the Division of Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology, Department of Internal Medicine, at Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TCVGH). He served as Resident and Chief Resident at the same institution after he graduated as an MD from National Yang-Ming University School of medicine, Taipei, Taiwan in 2001. Before assuming his current position he was Attending Physician at Yunlin Veterans Home, Department of General Medicine, Yunlin, Taiwan, and also at Changhua Christian Hospital, Department of Internal Medicine, Chuanghua, Taiwan. Dr Lai has R.O.C. Board Certifications in Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, Immunology & Allergy and Geriatrics.

Dr Lai's professional affiliations include the Taiwan Society of Internal Medicine, The Chinese Society of Immunology, the Rheumatology Association, R.O.C., the Taiwan Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, and the Taiwan Society of Ultrasound in Medicine. In the short space of his career to date he has already published several important papers on various topics including studies of autoantibodies in systemic sclerosis, chronic urticaria in patients with rheumatic diseases and thyroid autoimmunity, ultrasound diagnosis of gouty arthritis and of large-vessel vascilitides, and the epidemiology of rheumatoid arthritis in Taiwan.
