Team Introduction:
Smart fall prevention system help nurses handle patients’ requests and provide timely assistance to prevent patient fall. The innovative smart patient care system includes: the smart bed exit alert system and the high-risk fall prediction system:
(1) The smart bed exit alert system is applied on patient at risk of falling, which automatically displays patient’s read-time positions, including stirring, sitting up, out of bed, leaving. When the patient exits from the bed, the fourth-stage alert notifies the nurses via the mobile phone and the nurses can respond timely.
(2) The fall prediction dashboard shows the patient's probability of falling. The red light (up to 0.4) shows the high-risk fall patient, and the green light shows the non-high-risk fall patient. The update data is captured three times a day, at 7am, 3pm, 11pm and nurses update information before handover to prevent from fall.
Outstanding Achievements：
- The system had won National Patent Invention Award of Taichung Veterans General Hospital in 2021.
- The system had won Taichung Veterans General Hospital AI Big Data Annual Presentation Awarded Excellent in 2021.
- The incidence of falls in the smart fall prevention ward is reduced by 71% (from 0.07% in 2020 to 0.02% in the first quarter of 2022).
Smart hospital bed care system: Nurses received and responded to the alerts via mobile phone, and further notify the patients.
High-risk fall prediction system: The fall prediction dashboard shows the high-risk fall patient.
