2025 Vietnam-Taiwan International Scientific Conference for Advances in Hybrid Surgical Interventions
Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TCVGH) has expanded its international medical collaboration with Vietnam. On April 26, led by Superintendent Prof. Yun-Ching Fu, a delegation traveled to Hanoi, Vietnam, to co-host the Vietnam-Taiwan International Scientific Conference for Advances in Hybrid Surgical Interventions with Hanoi Medical University Hospital. The symposium focused on three major areas: interventional therapy, minimally invasive surgery, and smart healthcare development. More than 700 participants joined the conference both onsite and online, reflecting an enthusiastic response.
The symposium brought together leading medical teams from both Taiwan and Vietnam. Keynote speeches covered the latest clinical advancements in cardiovascular interventions, structural heart disease, orthopedic minimally invasive techniques, oncology treatments, and endoscopic surgery, as well as emerging technologies such as AI-assisted diagnosis, robotic surgery, and image-guided navigation. The event featured a wide range of topics, promoting the exchange of clinical expertise and patient care practices, while also strengthening bilateral collaboration in clinical technology and development.
Founded in 1902, Hanoi Medical University is Vietnam’s oldest and most prestigious medical institution. Its affiliated hospital, established in 2007, integrates medical education, research, and clinical services, thus providing high-quality healthcare and serving as a vital training base for both medical students and researchers. The hospital houses 500 patient beds along with multiple specialized centers, and is equipped with modern medical facilities, committing itself to advancing patient-centered care.
According to TCVGH’s International Medical Service Center, Prof. Nguyen Lan Hieu, President of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, visited Taiwan in October 2024 to attend TCVGH’s 42nd anniversary and international medical conference, during which time a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to initiate staff training and medical experience exchanges between the two institutions. This year, TCVGH made its first return visit to Hanoi and co-hosted the medical conference, aiming to strengthen cooperation in the fields of both medical education and clinical research, jointly building a high-quality cross-border healthcare service network.
Additionally, TCVGH hosted a "Healthcare Seminar for Taiwanese Businesspeople and Overseas Compatriots in Northern Vietnam" in Hanoi on April 25th of this year. That particular seminar covered heart health, bone care, gastrointestinal health, and smart health checkups, delivering the latest medical knowledge and healthcare concepts to nearly 100 attendees, in turn receiving very positive feedback from those in attendance.
Through organizing the international conference and healthcare seminar in Vietnam, TCVGH continues to actively support Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy while also further strengthening its influence in the international healthcare arena. Each of the events concluded successfully, with all of the participants leaving the gatherings feeling extremely satisfied with the progress which was made. Special thanks go out to Ambassador Shih-Chung Liu, Minister Yi-Min Lin, Honorary President of The Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Vietnam Yu-Feng Yang, Overseas Community Affairs Council Member Zhi-Hua Hong, and the team from Hanoi Medical University Hospital led by Prof. Nguyen Lan Hieu for all of their strong support and collaboration. The fruitful results of this Taiwan–Vietnam medical exchange created an absolute win-win outcome. TCVGH will continue to promote international cooperation projects, enhancing both service capacity and quality of care in order to better benefit more patients both domestically and abroad.
