Sinonasal Tumor/ Skull Base Surgery
Sinonasal Tumor/ Skull Base Surgery
Team Introduction:
Sinonasal and skull base tumors include various types of histopathology. The anatomical structures of paranasal sinuses are located adjacent to the central nervous system and orbit. Large tumors with orbital or intracranial extensions could result in cosmetic and functional deficits. Management of sinonasal and skull base tumors often pose a surgical challenge. Open, endoscopic, or the combined approach can be used to excise sinonasal and skull base tumors. Especially, in good surgical candidate, an endoscopic approach assisted with a navigation system could help avoid any facial scars and functional impact. All approaches are available in our team and we will select the best surgical route depending on tumor size and location. Our services emphasize multi-disciplinary cooperation between rhinologists, neurosurgeons, ophthalmologists, plastic surgeons and oral surgeons. We have performed surgery on many patients with sinonasal and skull base tumors with positive outcomes being seen at our institute.
Outstanding Achievements:
According to the database of the Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare, sinonasal carcinoma is a rare tumor, and the annual incidence of sinonasal tumors in Taiwan is only about 0.2%. Based on the statistical results from our hospital, approximately 400 sinonasal tumor patients have been treated in our hospital over the recent decades.
