The Department of Chest Medicine

Introduction

The Division of Chest Medicine, which belongs to the Department of Internal Medicine at Taichung Veterans General Hospital was set up in 1982. Manning quotas include 1 chief, 8 attending physicians, 2 chief residents, 1 associate technologist, 1 medical technologist, 1 technician, 1 registered nurse, 3 nurse practitioners, and 7 contract-based technicians. Clinical service facilities include pulmonary function test room, bronchoscopy room, immunohistochemistry lab, chest ultrasonography room, bronchoscopy room, pulmonary rehabilitation room, polysomnography room, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy center.

Teaching

In addition to service and research, we also focus on the teaching and training of young doctors and students. We keep passion and quality of the training of chest X-film interpretation and invite the well-known Dr. Chi-Der Chiang to deliver a serial class of advanced chest X-film interpretation and to hold a meeting of case discussion every Tuesday. For the training of residents and medical students, we enhance the perspective of patient-centered care and help to improve their clinical practice ability. We also hold national or international conferences every year to provide and communicate the update information of chest medicine.
