Taichung Veterans General Hospital(臺中榮民總醫院) - (Cardiovascular Center)
Being the only national medical center in middle Taiwan, Taichung Veterans General Hospital stands as evacuation center taking care of patients with critical cardiovascular diseases.
Cardiovascular center is established provisionally in 2004, providing patient-centered, comprehensive heart team care by cardiologist and cardiovascular surgeon. In the past years, we improved quality of clinical care and published clinical study in field of cardiovascular medicine. Cardiovascular center is officially established in 2014 Jan by the order from Executive Yuan, branching into 6 divisions, including Division of interventional cardiology, Division of general cardiology, Division of electrophysiology, Division of heart failure, Division of surgical cardiology, and Division of vascular surgery.
For years, we provided comprehensive medical care, BSC, clinical pathway, circle of medical quality, and formed dedicate medical heart team with combination of administrative resources and policy of medical caring quality. In addition to improving quality of medical care, we also tried to form interior atmosphere, by physicians’ participating in circle of medical quality, and consequently form an atmosphere of improving quality of medical care all over the whole hospital, by more physicians’ participating in circle of medical quality. Four among five chief of divisions and four among seven attending physicians participated in circle of medical caring quality, as team leader, practiced plan of improvement of medical caring quality. We also won Symbol of National Quality in 2012, with circle of “Implementation of Quality Control Measures to Improve Healthcare Quality for Patients with Cardiovascular Disease”. Focusing on critical cardiovascular diseases and most common diseases, including coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, and heart failure; we assembled physician, nurse, dietitian, social worker, rehabilitation physician, and physical therapist to form the comprehensive medical heart team and provide comprehensive medical care for patients both in hospital and outpatient department.
In the past years, we were invited to share experience of medical care quality in twenty four hospitals and we also shared experience from Taichung Veterans General Hospital in TCPI OF AMI by Joint Commission of Taiwan. Cheng-Kung University Hospital in 2014 and Kuan-Tian Hospital in 2015 came for further learning, in order to improve quality of medical care for patients with coronary artery disease.
