:::
Introduction
Since its establishment in 1982, our hospital's Department of Surgery has been dedicated to providing high-quality patient care, education, and research. Our surgical team is composed of specialists across various fields, organized into seven divisions: General Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Breast Surgery, and Transplantation Surgery. Additionally, we have specialized task forces, including the Division of Postgraduate Surgical Training, the Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) Team, and the Surgical Skills Training Center.

The teaching in our surgery department is passed down through generations by a group of diligent attending physicians, renowned for their rigorous standards. From consultations, diagnostics, and surgeries to dressing changes, medical record documentation, and postoperative discussions, they never let up. Even during holidays and late at night, the hospital's wards and corridors are bustling with the hurried footsteps of our surgical physicians. This stringent training has produced hundreds of highly skilled surgeons. Many of the chief surgeons in major medical institutions across central Taiwan come from our department, which is our pride and comfort. Their efforts have expanded, extended, and rooted medical care in central Taiwan, benefiting countless patients.

Our surgical department has led the region in both quality and quantity of surgeries for the past forty years. With changing times, evolving environments, and advancements in medical technology and globalization, surgical procedures are constantly evolving. In this dynamic surgical field, our pursuit is not just for novel surgeries but for the safety and necessity of the surgeries themselves. To achieve this mission, we emphasize self-discipline within our department and also strive for interdisciplinary and inter-hospital collaboration. We look forward to our department continuing to deepen its roots, grow, and achieve new milestones.

Our specialized centers include the Center for Lymphedema Reconstruction, the Center for Spina Bifida and Bowel Bladder Dysfunction, and the Wound and Ostomy Integrated Care Center. We are also developing a comprehensive Health and Weight Management Center to further expand our services.
