The Department of Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery

Introduction

Plastic and reconstructive surgery is a specialized field of the department of surgery. The service contains other departments widely, including dentistry, orthopedics, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, and pediatrics. There is no obvious boundary between the departments. The fields could be summarized below:

1. The plastic and reconstructive management of craniofacial trauma and acquired/congenital congenital deformities.
2. Hand surgery covering hands trauma and acquired/congenital congenital deformities.
3. Acute burn injury resuscitation and chronic reconstruction.
4. The tumors, which locating at soft tissue, skin, head and neck, excision and reconstruction.
5. Extremities and trunk wound treatment and reconstruction.
6. Development of microsurgery.
7. Aesthetic plastic surgery, for example, botulinum toxin injection (reducing rhytides, masseteric hypertrophy (square jaw), Neck platysmal bands, and calves shaping), medical lasers (mole removal, skin rejuvenation, elimination of tattoo and hyperpigmentation), breast plasty, panfacialplasty (scar revision, ophthalmological plasty, rhinoplasty, auricular plasty, microtia reconstruction, genioplasty, rhytidectomy, hyaluronic acid injection), bromidrosis surgery, liposuction and lipoinjection.

Medical characteristics

1. Post head and neck tumor excision (maxilla, mandible, tongue, oral cavity, larynxand esophagus) reconstruction was a kind of extremely complicated surgery and powerfully challenged a plastic surgeon. Our department accumulated abundant experience in the past decades which results in our forte expertise in this field.
2. In the area of hand surgery, we havea great quantity ofsuccessful cases about rheumatoid arthritis reconstruction, traumatic amputation reconstruction, wrist injury treatment and other post trauma complicated repair.
3. In the area of anesthetic surgery, liposuction under local anesthesia, rhinoplasty, Korean style rhinoplasty, breast reconstruction and ophthalmological plasty were our unique achievements.
4. About burn injury treatment, we distinguish us as executing micro-skin graft in huge body surface area injury patient. Otherwise, biophysiological monitors are applied in this kinds of patients who have better survival rate.
5. About chronic wound, especially Diabetes foot, we emphasized soaking and negative pressure wound therapy. Depending on the wound condition, we applied many newest dressings customizedfor any kind of the wound.
